The Woodley Coles LLP have been commissioned to provide Cost Management Services for the refurbishment of 91 Class 455 trains on the behalf of South West Trains, the train operating company, and Porterbrook, the train leasing company.

The project is the first of its kind that the Woodley Coles LLP has undertaken; yet the similarities with the construction industry are striking and effectively mean that although in uncharted territory, the skills of the construction cost manager are appreciated in the factory environment of railway carriage maintenance just as much as they are on a building site.

Advising and assisting the Clients’ Project Manager with respect to the agreement of payment applications, auditing and negotiating variation costs, managing the project budget and providing commercial advice when required; the Woodley Coles LLP are instrumental in ensuring that the Clients’ budgetary goals were met.
