The Works comprise the demolition of existing buildings and the erection and completion of a new, traditionally constructed, lower school building. Facilities include 10 No. classrooms, art room, library, learning support units, hall, music room and practice facilities, IT room, science room, maths/French room and swimming pool together with associated changing area. Construction comprises trench fill foundations, ground-bearing concrete and precast concrete plank ground floors, partial steel frame, load-bearing masonry walls and partitions, low pitch and flat roofs on timber rafters, aluminium external doors and windows, together with floor, wall and ceiling finishes, decorations, mechanical and electrical installations, and internal and underground drainage works. Associated works include new roads, parking, pavings, play areas, landscaping and new service connections.

 

The works are phased to suit the operations of the school and temporary accommodation, in the form of mobile classrooms, will be utilised during the currency of the construction works.

 

The Woodley Coles LLP was appointed partly through the pre-contract phase with the brief of reporting on Stage 1 tenders and negotiating a Stage 2 tender to establish a contract sum. Full post contract services then followed through to agreement of the final account.
