The house is a large period property substantially built and remodelled in the second half of the 19th Century. Accommodation is over three floors, with the top floor within the mansard roof space. A basement is located below part of the drawing room. An extension was built to the East in the 1980's. Substantial repairs were carried out to the mansard roof following a fire in the 1990's.

The Clients strategy was to strip out the property internally and remodel / refurbish rooms, replace the staircase and most of the internal joinery including the doors, refurbish the cellar (including a lift), refurbish the roof and dormers, refurbish external windows, renew completely the electrical and plumbing / heating works (including bathrooms). New built works comprised an extension to the kitchen, a new conservatory, a new porch and detached garage block with studio above.

The works were carried out between November 2006 and December 2007.

Directly appointed by the Client, The Woodley Coles LLP worked closely with the Client's Architect and Contractor providing Cost Management services for the overall project during the construction period. Duties included certifying works for payment at monthly intervals, monitoring and reporting on all aspects of the budget/final costs.
