The Woodley Coles LLP were appointed to undertake pre and post contract quantity surveying services for the extensive alterations and extension to transform a traditional rural detached house in the garden of England with bespoke and highly contemporary design.

Alterations to the traditional external appearance of the existing building were minimal, concealing the complete transformation of the internal space. The project extended the existing building in two areas and on one end is a structural glazed link that acts as a transitional point between the existing building and its extensions to a wholly new building. This new element, which houses a swimming pool, is more contemporary in design but is sympathetic to the original building with style and detailing that ties in.

The dynamic of the old and new elements inspired an aesthetic that marries the traditional rural style of the existing building with a sensitive contemporary design approach. The result is modern living spaces of the very highest architectural detail and quality.
