The project comprised the design and construction of a new 24 bed 2-storey student accommodation building at the NCYPE’s main campus in Lingfield, Surrey. The works included all external works, services etc. along with the demolition of the existing 1950s buildings which the new building was to replace.
The building is traditionally constructed with loadbearing masonry, precast concrete plank floors and timber roof trusses. Windows and external doors are double glazed polyester powder coated aluminium, internal doors are veneered timber. Walls internally are generally plaster finish, ceilings emulsion painted M/F suspended system with localised Ecophon suspended ceilings. Floor finishes are a mixture of carpet, vinyl and wood effect flooring. Heating and hot water is supplied by way of a biomass boiler.
The Woodley Coles LLP were appointed to act as CDM Co-ordinator for the Design and Build contract.
