A two-classroom extension to the existing school is under construction to permit the removal of temporary accommodation. The Hall is also being extended to cater for the increased pupil roll since the school was originally constructed.
The extensions provide 2No. infant/junior classes, group room and associated toilets, and storage, together with an increased hall area of 32%.
Construction comprises trench fill foundations, insulated concrete beam and block ground floor, partial steel frame, load-bearing masonry walls and partitions, monopitch copper roofs on timber trusses, timber/aluminium composite doors and windows, together with floor, wall and ceiling finishes, decorations, mechanical and electrical installations, internal and underground drainage, associated alterations to the existing accommodation and minor external works.
The approximate gross internal floor areas for the scheme are:
Classroom extension - 206m2
Hall extension - 45m2
The Woodley Coles LLP is appointed to provide full pre- and post contract service including initial budget estimates, preparation of tender documentation, evaluation of tenders and post contract cost control through to agreement of the final account.
