The new Medical Assessment and Research Centre will provide improved and expanded services in assessment, treatment, research, information, education and outreach for children with epilepsy and related neurological disabilities.

The Works comprise a traditionally constructed, predominantly single storey Medical Centre with some first floor accommodation, part new build and part extensive refurbishment. The refurbished area will comprise the demolition of all of the existing building with the exception of foundations, floors and external walls and subsequent re-building. The new build extension will comprise trench fill foundations, insulated pre-cast concrete beam and block ground floor, partial steel frame, load-bearing masonry walls and partitions, natural slate roof on timber rafters, composite aluminium & timber doors and windows, together with floor, wall and ceiling finishes, mechanical and electrical installations and internal and underground drainage works. Enabling works include a nearby access road being relocated and services to nearby buildings being relocated. The whole site will be landscaped before handing back to the client.

The Woodley Coles LLP was appointed to provide full pre and post contract services, including initial budget estimate, prepare the contract documentation, evaluate and report on the tenders received and complete the post contract cost control services within the allocated budget.  The project was completed in August 2009
